BioThane®, the cutting-edge webbing made in the USA!

BioThane® is the brand name of all coated webbing
products made by BioThane Coated Webbing Corp. It’s basically a
polyester webbing with a TPU or PVC coating that makes it more durable,
waterproof, easy to clean and weldable.

It is manufactured in the plant located in North Ridgeville, Ohio in the USA.

Snow shoes worn in climbs up Mt.Everest use BioThane straps instead of leather. BioThane is even used by NASA in outer space and by the US Military. Because of its antimicrobial properties, it's a preferred strapping material for gurneys in the Medical field, in Hospitals and by Emergency Medical Techs.

Why is BioThane® better than leather?

BioThane® is more durable, cleanable, stronger and easier to maintain. It is also readily available in different colors.

It has a minimum pull strength of 450 kg per 2.5 cm of width and is 20%
lighter than leather. Looks and feels like leather but simply outperforms and outlasts leather.

Does synthetic hurt the animals?

Not any more than leather! As long as you size the end product correctly it should never hurt your animal.

Will it smell if the animal gets wet?

No, BioThane® is stinkproof.

How long will it last?

Under normal use, BioThane® will long outlast leather and nylon.

Will the color fade?

The
opaque colors tend to hold color significantly longer than the
fluorescent colors. In general, the deeper the shade of the hue, the
longer it will last.

Will it still work in cold weather?

Yes. BioThane remains flexible and durable in cold weather.

Does it get sticky or tacky?

Under normal use it will not get sticky or tacky. It can get sticky or tacky if it is exposed to certain chemicals like DEET.

Will the material cause hot spots?

The material will only cause hot spots if the animal is not fitted properly with the correct size product.

Is it bite/chew proof?

No leash, unless it's chain, is bite/chew proof. So neither is BioThane.

  • Stainless Steel

Plated hardware will likely wear over time, and probably reveal the base metal, which is steel. Although it resists corrosion, prolonged wear may increase the chances of rust formation. However, with the right care and maintenance, your fancy colored leash can remain in excellent condition for a considerable amount of time.

HOW TO CARE ABOUT YOUR BUMBLEE LEASH

To ensure your Bumblee BioThane® leash will last long, we have prepared couple of advice.

• Ensure that you rinse the item with fresh water after being exposed to
salt water or chlorine. Use a clean towel to dry it off.
• Ensure the gear is not left out in the rain.
• Do not use wire brushes for scrubbing or washing
• If staining occurs, it is recommended to gently remove it using rubbing
alcohol or dish-washing soap. It is worth noting that neon and light
colors are more likely to stain.
